The Plough Inn – Low Bradfield

After a long day in the great outdoors stopping to refuel is normally one of my first priorities. Located in Low Bradfield, the Plough Inn offers a treat for your tastebuds at a reasonable price.

It’s ideally situated for the many walkers and cyclists to call in and relax. Which was the reason for my visit today, having just been out for a long walk it was an impulse decision so I’d not booked ahead.

Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and welcoming as they checked to see if they had a table for us.

Just like many traditional country pubs, there’s a rustic feel to the inside, with an open fire to keep you warm in the colder months, or plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months, along with a play area to keep the younger visitors entertained.

Once seated and after what seemed like an impossible decision trying to decide what I wanted from the many options on the menu. I finally settled on the steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas with a side of onions rings.

My eyes were certainly bigger than my belly, and I’d definitely recommend making sure you’ve got someone who is willing to share with you before you order a side dish as the portions are more than satisfying for any appetite no matter how large.

With plenty of succulent meat in a rich gravy and a flakey pastry top cooked to perfection, Along with the accompaniment of chips that tasted fantastic on their own but a whole new level of taste sensation when dipped in the gravy from the pie. I’d consider this one of the best pies and chips I’ve had in a long time.

The onion rings were full of thick rings of onion covered in a crispy golden brown batter that had a nice crunch when eating them.
